TL;DR
- Nerscylla hatchlings provide 100% drop rate for monster fluid in Iceshard Cliffs
- Large monsters like Lala Barina offer 20% drop chance when killed or captured
- Use map filtering and waypoint system to efficiently locate farming spots
- Complete Nerscylla quests for passive hatchling kills during hunts
- Monster fluid upgrades to monster broth at High Rank with same farming methods
Collect monster fluid for forging
Monster fluid is an equipment material in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s described as “a liquid bugs suck from monsters” (gross). At High Rank, monster fluid becomes monster broth, but you find it the same way and from the same monsters.
You’ll need monster fluid to forge weapons like the Bone Axe 2 and armor like the Vespoid Coil.
Our Monster Hunter Wilds guide will tell you how to get monster fluid and how to collect it.
Monster fluid is a carvable material from insects and certain insect-like monsters both large and small. The large monster Lala Barina has about a one in five chance of giving you some when killed or captured. Small monsters like bulaqchi or vespoids also have low chance to reward monster fluid.
A much more reliable way to collect (a lot of) monster fluid, is to look for nerscylla hatchlings. These have a 100% drop rate for monster fluid. You’ll only find these in places where you can also find nerscylla (obviously), so your best bet is to head to the Iceshard Cliffs.
For hunters struggling with basic monster hunting mechanics, our Class Guide provides essential combat fundamentals that apply across all hunting scenarios.
Once there, nerscylla hatchlings will appear as small monster icons on your map. Open your map and hit right on the D-pad twice. Scroll down through the filter to look for nerscylla hatchlings and set one as the waypoint for your seikret. Areas 2 and 4 seem like their favorite places.
All that’s left to do is slay a bunch of nerscylla hatchlings and carve their bodies.
Alternately, every time you take on a nerscylla optional quest like “Dance of Shadows” or a nerscylla investigation, there’s a good chance it will lead you to an area full of nerscylla hatchlings. A bunch of them will undoubtedly get killed in the process, so you can just carve them once the large monster runs off.

To maximize your monster fluid farming efficiency, consider these pro tips: Always bring carving pro skills to speed up collection, use gear with gathering bonuses, and time your farming sessions during in-game periods with increased small monster spawns. Avoid the common mistake of focusing solely on large monsters – the 20% drop rate from Lala Barina makes it significantly less efficient than targeting nerscylla hatchlings directly.
Plan your farming route to hit multiple nerscylla hatchling spawn points in sequence, and consider bringing poison-resistant gear since these areas often contain other hazardous insects. A well-planned 15-minute farming session in Iceshard Cliffs can typically yield 8-12 monster fluid units if you optimize your pathing and combat efficiency.
